Training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medicine
Melissa Wheaton is a Registered Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and an Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncturists of B.C. She is a graduate of the 5 year Dr.TCM program from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Vancouver. During her training she completed an internship at the China Medical University Hospital in Taiwan. This experience gave her the insight of a true integration of Chinese Medicine and Western medicine. Before Melissa began her studies in Chinese Medicine, she completed a Western Herbology, and a Holistic Nutrition Practitioner program. She believes that diet play’s a vital role in any treatment plan and integrates modern nutrition with Eastern philosophy.
Throughout her life she has been involved in many sports and activities, that have given her an awareness of the relationship between a healthy body and a healthy life. Melissa moved to the Sea to Sky in 1997, where she fell in love with a lifestyle driven by outdoor activities. She appreciates the importance of living close to nature to optimize physical, mental, and spiritual well being. Melissa approaches each treatment with compassion, and takes into consideration the person as a whole. Her aim is to not only eliminate symptoms, but to treat the underlying cause, increase function of the body, and to improve vitality.
It gives Melissa great joy to see Chinese Medicine and acupuncture change so many lives and is looking forward to being a part of your path to optimal health. Melissa has a general practice, with a special interest in women’s health, obstetrics, pediatrics, anxiety, and pain management. She is currently accepting new patients. Call today!
